Canadian citizens and permanent residents aged 18+ can sponsor their spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, dependent children, parents, or grandparents to become permanent residents.
— Who Can You Sponsor —
Married spouse, common-law or conjugal partner
Children under 22 years old
Mother, father, grandmother, grandfather
To sponsor a family member, you must meet these requirements:
Be at least 18 years old
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or registered Indian
Live in Canada or plan to return when sponsored person becomes PR
Prove you can financially support the person you're sponsoring
Not be in prison, bankruptcy, or under a removal order
Not be receiving social assistance (except disability)
Have paid back any previous sponsorship loans
Sign an undertaking to support the person for 3-20 years

Collect required documentation for both sponsor and sponsored person
Complete and submit sponsorship and permanent residence applications
IRCC processes application and may request additional information
